PORTLAND, Ore. (September 28, 2017) – Portland Trail Blazers basketball is back! And with it comes six huge concerts and Portland Winterhawks hockey, making October at the Rose Quarter one of the biggest months of the year.
Starting the month at the Moda Center on Sunday, October 1 is the 13th Annual Wells Fargo Fan Fest. Fans will have their first opportunity to watch the 2017-18 Portland Trail Blazers live in action. The free event features first-come, first-served general admission seating, with doors opening at noon. The afternoon will be headlined by an intra-squad scrimmage at 1 p.m. Parking on the Rose Quarter campus will be free, subject to availability. October is full of Trail Blazers basketball, with three preseason games at the Moda Center on Tuesday, October 3, Thursday, October 5 and Friday, October 13, followed by the highly anticipated regular season home opener on Tuesday, October 24 against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Trail Blazers will also take on the L.A. Clippers on Thursday, October 26, the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, October 28 and the Toronto Raptors on Monday, October 30. All games are at the Moda Center with a 7 p.m. tipoff time, and will be broadcasted on NBC Sports Northwest.
Halloween is in sight, and what better way to get in the mood than a haunted house! FrightTown returns to the catacombs beneath the Veterans Memorial Coliseum for its 13th straight year of scares and screams from October 7-31. Three huge haunted houses are packed with enough thrills and nightmares for a whole month of Halloween haunting. Kicking off an exciting run of October concerts at the Moda Center on Monday, October 2 is Coldplay’s “A Head Full Of Dreams Tour”. Since March of this year, the “A Head Full Of Dreams Tour, produced by Live Nation Entertainment, has played to 2.5 million people across Latin America, the U.S. and Europe. A Head Full Of Dreams has sold more than five million copies since its December 2015 release. The videos for the album’s hit singles “Adventure Of A Lifetime,” “Hymn For The Weekend” and “Up&Up” – have more than a billion YouTube video views combined. The band has won seven Grammy awards to date.
Next to the Moda Center stage on Friday, October 6 is The Weeknd’s “Starboy: Legend of the Fall 2017 World Tour”. Variety named The Weeknd “a bonafide pop star and an undeniable influence on his contemporaries,” while British GQ hailed “this was without-doubt one of the best shows we’ve seen from a mega star in a seriously long time.” The Weeknd released his fourth full length studio album, Starboy, on November 25, 2016 through XO/Republic Records to rave reviews. The Starboy album has since been streamed over five million times and certified 2x-platinum, while the title track “Starboy” is now 5x-platinum.
The Portland Winterhawks season is in full swing, with four home games in October. The Hawks take on the Tri-City Americans at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday, October 18 and Wednesday, October 25. They will then battle the Kelowna Rockets at the Moda Center on Sunday, October 26 and Monday, October 30.
JAM’N 107.5’s fourth annual Boo Bomb is coming to the Moda Center on Saturday, October 14. Anticipation has been running high for the annual event and the bone-chilling lineup will include performances by Chingy, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Lloyd, Warren G, Ying Yang Twins, Montell Jordan, Too Short and more.
Coming to the Rose Quarter on Monday, October 16 is the WWE flagship Monday Night Raw, airing live to the world from the Moda Center. This will be your chance to see your favorite WWE Superstars live in action, including Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Finn Balor, Cesaro and Sheamus, The Miz, Samoa Joe, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, and many more! Next to the Moda Center stage on Monday, October 23 is Depeche Mode’s “Global Spirit Tour”. Following an extensive European summer tour, the 28 show North American run, exclusively promoted by Live Nation, will kick off on August 23rd in Salt Lake City, UT and will stop in 26 cities across the United States and Canada before wrapping up in Edmonton, Alberta on October 27th. One of the most influential, beloved, and best-selling musical acts of all time, Depeche Mode have sold over 100 million records and played live to more than 30 million fans worldwide. Coming to the Theater of the Clouds at the Moda Center on Friday, October 27 is A$AP Mob’s “Too Cozy Tour”. The tour will find A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Twelvyy, A$AP Nast, A$AP Ant, Playboi Carti, Key! and Cozy Boysjoining forces to grace the stage, with Ferg and Carti only appearing during select dates.
Food for the Hungry presents the AiR1 Positive Hits Tour, coming to the Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, October 28, featuring Grammy nominees Skillet and Britt Nicole, American Idol alum Colton Dixon, and special guests Tauren Wells and GAWVI. The tour will visit 29 cities over the course of the run.
